Just noticed barlo motors website says they are Opel dealers , what happened to young motors ? They were long est and have good showrooms . Are youngs taking on some other big franchise along with land rover ?

Youngs lost the Opel dealership barlos got it when youngs lost. Youngs aren't Opel dealers anymore they just won't take down the Opel signs as far as I know.

Strange that they built nice showrooms and are long time in business maybe they are taking on another franchise and Opel found out ?

I got my Opel car serviced last week at Youngs. They are still Opel Service and Parts Dealers for Kilkenny and they actually looked very busy. I guess thats why they still have the Opel signs up.

Yes but they won't be able to survive with just land rover and they can't be service parts dealer indifinitly as that wouldn't be fair on barlo service parts is where the money is !

It's sad in this country due to taxation, that Land Rover dealers cannot survive independent to another Brand.

Just thirty minutes up the road in Enniskillen TP Toppings is flying it, whilst they do have another brand. The Land Rover Brand on it's own is keeping them quite busy.

    This country is a mess.

In fairness there are. Very few land rover dealers up north and fact land rover are. British is main reason they dominate market there !

Had a quick scoot around this dealer the other weekend... Huge and very impressive premises with hardly any stock! Just a few sad old model Vauxhall zafiras etc. no new Land Rovers at all despite them selling reasonably well at the moment with a good range, albeit pricey.
They surely ain't going to continue like this? I'd imagine the rates and repayments on a premises like this must be massive in itself. Surely there a few franchises I can think of that are not represented in Kilkenny (in Carlow town instead perhaps) like Mazda, fiat, BMW that could sell well from a place like this. Anyone know anything about them?

very strange - why did they lose opel ?
they are only land rover service and parts these days - why i dont know .

dont think fiat or bmw would be viable. anything though would make more sense than what they are using i for these days.

Heard at the time they just weren't selling enough new ones..though I'd say any dealer back then would said the same! Barlo seem to be making a good go of Opel with a more modest premises.
Surely they are ripe for a take-over or if they wanted a new franchise again. Seems daft what they are at now, the premises is really impressive there.

That didn’t last long as dealers go? Looks like they’ve abandoned the Opel franchise- showroom full of nissans etc now! Not a brand new Opel in sight.
Nearest Opel dealer listed seems to be Fitzpatrick’s Carlow.
Wonder will someone else take it on? Never remember there not being an Opel dealer in Kilkenny but must not have been performing.
