Didn't he have reported health problems? Hard to imagine a tour but then the album has come out of nowhere so who knows.

    Opr

He had a heart attack in '04.

Very pleasantly surprised to see him back.

Not bad. Similar style to the 2002 Heathen album which I liked overall. Looking forward to hearing the rest of this album when it comes out.

No idea what his last album was but he disappeared after having heart problems as far as I know. Doesn't like the showbiz lifestyle either, would rather keep his private life private

Shortly after his astounding gig(s) at The Point I believe?*
This isn't to my taste at all mind you. Skip.

    * Am I the only person who heard him open that gig with "Chuichi ár lá?"

Yeah I like the song. I'm glad he didn't return to a more theatrical/bombastic style; this suits his voice and apparent melancholy with the world. I haven't heard any of his albums from the 90s or 00s but I wouldn't be upset at all if the new album incorporated the same sort of fragility found in WAWN?.

I loved the heathen album after hearing it a few times, I'd say this could be similar alright. Can't wait.

Don't much like the song, it's not too unlike "Thursday's Child" but i really like that song. Still have high hopes for the album

I love this song, the first time I heard it (with the video) I shed a tear or two. I'd imagine it wouldn't appeal to younger music fans though as you have to get older and have had a lot of good times and a lot of regrets to really understand where he's coming from. It's a man of 66 looking back to his younger self and the wild and beautifully creative time he spent in Cold War Berlin with the likes of Iggy Pop, recording 3 of his own albums and contributing to two of Iggy's plus soaking up amazing new sounds like Kraftwerk. There is a broken, wistful quality in his voice as well as the sentiments that really gets to me. 10/10 and I'm not a big Bowie fan.

Fair play ... at least you've researched back a bit about the life and times of Mr Jones ... If people are interested - why was he in Berlin ? He lived at 155 Hauptstrasse, just up from Kleistpark U-Bahn - a couple of doors down from Neues Ufer, the cafe Iggy and Himself used to frequent - "walking the dead" ? - ...
I'm a fan since 1976 - seen every tour since then - I've met and spoken with him and he signed an album for me - I'm not so sure what "where are we now" is about ... it seems to be a reflection on times past and times long gone but also an acknowledgement of good times since ... love, life, family, peace ... he's always been a very guarded and complex character ... if you're a fan like me you'll be enthralled that he is back ... if you're not a fan you maybe don't get the significance of some of the references ... who cares ? Each to his own ... one thing for sure ... a long time ago he stopped making music hoping to get to No.1 in the charts ... he makes music for himself and if his fans enjoy it then so be it ... Looking forward to the new album ... Hoping he'll tour, but tbh I can only see a few gigs in the O2 in LDN and maybe a few in MSG in NY ... will be very difficult to get tickets ... maybe only Bowienet members and lottery draw the same as Led Zep ... here's hoping

Album sounds cool to me ... from Station to Station to Lodger ... there's a lot of reflections of style and music from past times ... after the first listen I can hear some tracks that will fit on previous albums ... from '76 to Scary Monsters ... I think this will be a classic ... and by all accounts there are another 20/30 tracks still in the can ... wow

Have had two full listens.......i love it!!!!!!

I like "The Stars...." far more on the album, its one of the weaker tracks though imo

Its a bit Scary Monsters, bit Heathen to me.....Visconti wasnt kidding,it really does rock! id give it 4/5 at this stage, its great

    HES BACK!!!!!!:D

    Heard it twice myself.
Very solid, probably his best album in 20 years.
I even find the sequence of the sons great: Where Are We Now put in the middle of the album is a great breather.

2025 gigs: Selofan, Alison Moyet, Borderline Festival, Wardruna, Gavin Friday, Orla Gartland, The Courettes, Nine Inch Nails

Its on Spotify now as well, gave it a listen today and was surprised by how strong it is. The opening title track is particularly good and would've fitted in on one of his late-70s records.

    Valentine's Day is great!

Really impressed by this. Sounds really fresh for a man in his 60s. Loving I'd rather be high at the moment

Don't know any of his albums from the 90's or later, but do know his 70's output. This holds up really well. Fabulous.
