Off the top of my head I can only think of 1 actor that has played 2 seperate superheros on the big screen? (Animation not included!!)

    A. Has there been more than 1???

    B. Name the actor ;-)

Well I'm assuming you're talking about Chris Evans who played The Human Torch in The Fantastic Four movies and Captain America in his movie and The Avengers. There's also Ryan Reynolds who played The Green Lantern (shudder) and Deadbolt in wolverine (Even though he's bad (in a bad movie) he's "good... ish" in the comics). Or Nicholas Cage who plays Ghost Rider (Jesus, these are ALL terrible films) and Big Daddy in Kick Ass.

That should do for your table quiz :)

Yep, that's what I meant. Cheers. In fairness though, you'd hardly know it was him from his depiction in that abomination of a movie

Here's one for you: Halle Berry as Storm and Catwoman

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,123 ✭✭✭the whole year inn

Surely tom cruise is in two,
Minority report was a comic ?

You could argue Chris Evans has 3 as he certainly was superpowered in Scott Pilgram too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭larchielads

ryan reynolds was also in blade trinity but dunno if thats a major character, theres loads

michael clarke duncan daredevil(kingpin) and in sin city again dont think it counts if hes not a hero or major villain

i know ive only named 2, but loads have been in more have been in multiple films but whether or not they're major roles/character does it count??

Rainn Wilson played both The Crimson Bolt and Dwight Schrute :pac:

Oh and Affleck doesn't count as he only played an actor playing superman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,554 ✭✭✭Pat Mustard

Hugo Weaving was V in V for Vendetta and also Red Skull in Capt America.

    Does that count?

In that case you could say Brandon Routh as Superman and the vegan from Scott Pilgrim

Samuel L Jackson? Mace Windu, Elijah Price (unbreakable), Nick Fury, The Octopus (The Spirit), Afro Samurai...... Does he count?

Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern and Deadpool doesn't irritate me much, and neither does Halle Berry as Catwoman and Storm. However, Chris Evans as both Human Torch and Captain America really grinds my gears.

The reason for this is Green Lantern is a DC character, Deadpool is a Marvel character... Catwoman is a DC character (though the Catwoman in that was an insult to the originial character) and Storm is a Marvel character... However, while the Fantastic Four movies are not considered to be in the same canon Multiverse as Captain America/Thor/Iron Man/Hulk/Avengers, it still really annoys me that Chris Evans played two Marvel Characters. It annoyed me even more when I actually saw Captain America and Avengers and realised he actually was good in the role too! (I had thought that he was great casting as the Human Torch, even if the movies were dire)

Supervillains can't really be classed as superheroes though, can they?

Adding to the supervillain mix though:

Mark Strong has a fairly healthy list of comic book villains under his belt.

Liam Neeson played ra's al ghul and the antihero Darkman in that Raimi "classic".

Josh Hartnett in 30 days of night and Sin City.

The amount of people equating "superhero" with "character in a comic" in this thread makes me a bit sad :(

Bruce Willis' characters in RED (acronym for Retired: Extremely Dangerous) and Sin City are most emphatically not superheroes, for example.

This concludes the "Damn and blast all of you, comics aren't just about dudes in spandex punching each other in the danglies!" intermission, and you're now returned to your discussion of what appears to be a pub quiz question :P

I gave up and just joined in when it turned into "general comic book movie" answers...seems like the actual superhero ones were already given and my knowledge doesn't extend past the most mainstream of comics.

    another non-superhero one

Josh Brolin in MIB 3 and Jonah Hex

Will Smith in MIB and Hancock

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Thwip!

Tbf Fysh the main answers had already been given and it's fun trying to remember which actors have been in multiple comic book movies

Chris Evans has actually been four different comic book characters now that I think of it

Cap, Human Torch, Lucas Lee (Scott Pilgrim), Jensen (The Losers, which is very underrated)

    • Chris Evans (Human Torch, Captain America)
    • Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Green Lantern, Hannibal Whatisname in Blade Trinity)
    • Halle Berry (Storm, Catwoman - although this only BARELY counts since it wasn't really the proper Catwoman)
    • Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, Big Daddy)
    • Don Cheadle (War Machine and Captain Planet :P - OK, yeah, I know)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 170 ✭✭chuckliddell

Chuck Norris in all his films

    If you're going that far:

Tom Hardy as Jean Luc's clone (Insurrection) and Bane (Dark Knight Rises)

    4c435719c5eea-1.jpgtom-hardy-dark-knight-rises-bane.jpg

And come on, we're using Sin City? Fine: Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy and Beatrix Kiddo

So, are we going with the literal translation of super-hero (a Supe = actual superpowers (so Batman is out) and Hero = a good guy/girl/thing) or just Uber Heros? Or has it gone so far past the line there is no going back and it's all bets are off? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭Evilsbane

    Well, the entries I gave...
Chris Evans (Human Torch, Captain America)
Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Green Lantern, Hannibal Whatisname in Blade Trinity)
Halle Berry (Storm, Catwoman - although this only BARELY counts since it wasn't really the proper Catwoman)
Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, Big Daddy)
Don Cheadle (War Machine and Captain Planet - OK, yeah, I know)
...followed the rule of "hero with superpowers, or costumed crimefighter".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

yeah but the OP said no animation :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

No animated superheroes... but any character who appeared in a comic or a piece of live action sci-fi is fair game?
    Pssshh!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Animated: Nathan Fillion would clean up. Add Clancy Brown to the animated list too.

Superhero doesn't just have to be defined by a super power, they also include people at the peak of physical fitness or mental ability, e.g. Batman, Captain America, etc.

Oh, Michael Rosenbaum as the ANIMATED Flash and Lex Luthor in Smallville.

I didn't have any animated ones. Otherwise Samuel L. Jackson would've been in with Frozone as well as his live-action Nick Fury.

    Well with regards to powers
Ian Mckellen as Magneto and Gandalf maybe...

    Does James McAvoy count?

Charles Xavier in X Men: First Class

Also in Wanted ... if you count bending bullets as a super power ....

Terrace Stamp, was Stick in Elektra, and General Zod in Superman II (as well as being in Wanted)

It was a joke. Don Cheadle was in a CollegeHumor skit where he played Captain Planet.
