Odyssey Arena Belfast Question

    Hi all

Could someone advise is it safe to travel to the Odyssey Arena at the moment with the riots that are taking place, I have never been to Belfast and am not sure what areas a Southern reg car should be avoiding. We have tickets for a show on the 19th in the Odyssey but am slightly nervous about going now with the riots taking place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd be fairly sure that you'd be fine. There's no real housing around the arena so the scrotes won't be hanging near there.

Are you staying the night? The Premier Inn Titanic Quarter is just beside there and would be very handy, just be careful that you go into the right car park there are two beside each other and it can be a bit confusing.

They city centre will be fine, even last night the protest outside City Hall was peaceful it was only afterwards on their home turf that it kicked off.

Oh thanks so much that puts my mind at ease, yep we're staying the night in Days hotel which I believe is close to the arena also?

Thanks again for your response, its very much appreciated, I was starting to contemplate selling the tickets after last night with not knowing if we were going to a bad area!

The trouble, I think, has mostly been on the short strand, newtownards road side of things.

You won't have any reason to go near there, a walk from your hotel to the Odyssey would be through the city centre and then across the pedestrian bridge behind the Albert Memorial Clock, or a very quick taxi across.

Have always really enjoyed my trips to Belfast, never any hassles at all. Have fun.

similar question, I was meant to be driving up to larne tomorrow, would I be passing through any trouble spots on the way up or should I be ok? pretty sure larne is a protestant area so i'm a bit worried in a southern reg car!!

You won't be anywhere near any trouble spots - it's wrong to equate "protestant" areas with the trouble caused by a few hotheads stirred up by loyalist paramilitaries. You'll be fine in Larne.
