Im looking for good videos on pitch shots.

Ive lost all confidence on them and either fat or thin them all. Im playing off 9 im wasting shots around the green that i cant afford.

Its almost like pitching yips at this stage. My chipping and putting are fine but cant hit a decent pitch shot anymore.

    All advice welcome thanks :)

What kind of distance are you having trouble with, 20yard pitch/ 60yard pitch?

My chipping and pitching were the worst part of my game, couldn't hit anything other than a full PW or a short chip, used to carry 4 wedges and couldn't use any of them consistently. So I spent about 6 months using only a PW for all shots and I'd carry a SW for bunkers or maybe were I have to chip over a bunker etc. It gave me great confidence with the wedge and now I still use my PW for everything from 115yard - 20yard and something chips. I only carry two wedges, my 48' PW and a 54' GW. Chipping around the greens, out of bunkers or maybe a 20yard pitch and I'll use the 54' GW.

This worked for me, may not work for you :)

I dont have a video so I'm going to try and describe what I did, it's about finding the bottom apex point of your swing path and making sure you always set your ball position in that position.

About 2 years ago I had the exact same problem. Was hitting everything fat or thin and also a single figure handicap golfer so I went to a professional friend of mine for chipping/pitching advice.

He got me to stand up straight, hold me arms out with palms of my hands facing in. I put my palms together and moved my body down into a chipping position. When your hands hang at their lowest point, that should be your bottom out apex point. You will also find that if you're wearing a zipped jacket, the middle of the zip should be around about the same position

Now take the club and do the same thing. Make a couple of swings and you should find that you're hitting the ground around about the same bottom out position.

At least i did anyways :)

Also when chipping the ball, I found that the ball kept the same ball flight and same run out each time.

It's definitely something you could try, but consulting with a professional is a must imo, especially at your level. Pitching is too important. :)

If you're in the midlands, may I recommend Hugh Feeney the assistant pro in Athlone. I have found him to be most excellent and can be found in the pro shop! ( Shameless plug for a friend ;) )

Not a great idea to give advice without seeing the swing. The best advice would be to get somebody to have a look at you.

However, there is potential that the swing plane is too flat and the club face is closed on the backswing.

    But, go and see someone.

Cheers man, i will give this a go and also arrange a lesson i think.

I had a lesson about 4 months ago, and the pro wanted me to pitch with no hinge, kinda sticker style but i cannot get the hang of it at all.

Think i need to go the hinge and hold route, with the help of a pro. :)

I think this is a problem most golfers will go through. I had the same problem about two years ago and also in a similar situation as a single figure handicapper it can kill you game. I attended a Dave Pelz short game school session in Killeen Castle as a lovely birthday present from my partner and I have to say it was really good. There wasn’t once magic piece of advice that changed everything, rather a focus on the real basics and physics of the golf swing. My advice is to make sure these basic elements are in check and you will have your short game back with a little practice:
    (In order of importance)
    - Grip pressure – Make sure you are holding the club as lightly as possible. Try to think that if you were holding it any lighter the club would fall out of your hand. This will really help get your feel back and I am guessing that if you are now nervous over the pitch you are probably gripping it extra tight.
    - Ball position – Ball has to be place at the centre of your stance (measure using your heals as if you open your front foot your toes will not give you a real centre of gravity) or slightly toward the back. Be sure that you check that your stance is almost square (slightly open) and the club face square to the target... basic stuff I know.
    - Accelerate through the ball – Your back lift should be half as big as your follow through. So really any pitch of over 30 yards should have you in almost a full follow though position. Any shorter and you should be ending up with the club vertical.
    - Lastly and this one goes with all the above is to ensure that you have you weight move to your left side (right hander) and finish over your front leg. This will make sure you complete your swing and move the centre of gravity in front of the centre of your stance resulting in a ball first strike, plenty of feel and spin.
Hope this helps. I really wish someone had got me back to the basics when I was going through the yeps. Try the above and let me know how it goes. Worked for me and cheaper than paying for the Dave Pelz school....

Probably the most difficult part of the game..I rarely meet a golfer who says they've mastered the 1/2..3/4 swing chip/pitch shots. Its giving me hell at the moment also so will be trying some of the following tips/drills.
