    Hey,

    Would anyone know roughly how much it would cost to get a rear exhaust box fitted to a 04 Mini One, and brake pads on all wheels, parts & labour roughly?

    I already got the oil & filter changed, air filter changed, spark plugs done today at a cost of

    Parts = 96 euro
    Labout = 60 euro

    176 euro total, is that a good price?

    Thanks

    I can tell you the rear exhaust for this is very expensive. I priced one from the main dealer a little while back for 03 mini one 1.6 at e450 includeing heat shielding. Motor factors about half or a little less.

    Oh f.uck!!! I should have guessed because everything with a Mini seems to be double the price what it is on normal cars!

    For good quality front and rear pads plus front and rear wear sensors supply and fit you would be looking at something in the region of €160 in our place.

    Brakes pads for all 4 wheels should cost around €160 parts and labour. Exhaust around €120 fitted. These prices are not main dealer prices. But should get the work done at this price or less at a local garage or tyre centre( advance or fast fit ).

    Check if they have the exhaust though, I'd to get one on my alfa and it wasn't carried by any of the fast fit type places.

    €650 it cost from alfa :eek: I ended up getting it made and fitted by Suohans up in Trim for about 120

    Just checked and they are sale on eBay at €70- €80. From England plus postage . Local garage will be able to get from motor factor.

    Check compatibility of ebay ones carefully and I would be wary of quality.

    Not recommending to buy on eBay as it could be wrong and would cost to much to send back. Just proving that they can be got aftermarket and not main dealer only . As stated in an earlier post your local garage / mechanic will be able to get exhaust box and pads in a motor factors.

    I'm talking the guts of €300 so for both jobs supplied and fitted. Bit more expensive than I expected! I told her to buy a cheaper car, but would she fecking listen!!!

    Not a bad car in fairness and hold their value very well. Things like oil and filters, spark plugs, brake pads are standard consumables.

    Got 2 quotes off 2 exhaust centres;

    One for 170 euro and one for 200 euro. The guy that said for 200 also said I'd need the pipe going back to the catalatic convertor??

    The guy that quoted me 170 didn't mention anything about a pipe.

    I just asked for a quote for a rear box which is what my mechanic told me to ask for.

    Any ideas?

    Got the exhaust fitted, but a week on and it sounds kinda loud, not as loud as it was, but not quiet like it should be with a new exhaust. The guy in the exhaust centre said all new exhausts are loud for the 1st while because they're clean and hollow and the noise is echoing around the exhaust itself!! And as soon as they get a bit dirty inside they'll quieten down...

    Is this true or is he talking shyte?!

    I think no, not true, .. ive been fitting couple of new exhaust on my cars.. not mini though, but exhaust was working straight awayas it should be, maybe there is some "special" exhaust for minis ... dont know. what make exhaust did you put in ?

    Thanks for the reply. Not sure what make the exhaust is to be honest. I know it's not the "proper" Mini exhaust (450 euro I think) because the one I got fitted was 170 euro. The guy at the exhaust centre said he's putting a lot of them on the Mini's because Mini exhausts of old are really bad and they are all burnt out. The exhaust centre I use are fairly reputable in Galway city (won't say their name, but they're on the Tuam Road near Liosbaun) so I'd hope he's telling the truth!

    The original box is double skinned, cheaper aftermarket ones probably not, so they could be louder?
    Surprised to hear they are "bad" - the only issue I know of is the band that holds them up will rust through, but as long as you catch that soon enough they seem to last a long time. That said, the earliest "new" minis could be hitting a stage now where things are just worn out after 12years.

    Check the clips on the airbox - BMW cheaped out on the plastic so the clips often break, the airbox could be opening during acceleration and giving you a deep sounding induction noise. Another possible source of noise.

    I'll probably let it go for a month anyways, but if the noise hasn't reduced I'll be going back into them with it. Have a year's warranty anyways so they'll have to do something with it.

    Got the brake pads done on each wheel yesterday on the Mini. Cost was 180 euro over all. Parts = 100 euro. Labour = 60 euro. (plus VAT).

    Pads seem very expensive? Also, labour seems a little high. Thought it was a fairly quick job fitting pads?

    Any thoughts? Thanks
