Hi there, I have the option to purchase shares on a monthly basis in Ericsson and am entitled to have this amount matched after 2 years by the company. Is it worth investing in I know nothing about shares so any advice is welcome.

So say you buy 1000 shares over a 2 year period. They just give you 1000 shares?

If thats the case then yes very good investment, buy as much as you can.

One thing to check is if there are fees involved in each monthly purchase?

If your company gives you anything it could be classed as benefit in kind(BIK) and subject to income tax. Check that out.
