    Hi folks

Heading on my first business trip to China in February and would need guidance basically what to/what not to do .

I will be landing in Beijing, staying overnight just to get some rest .

My plans are to inspect a few factories but they can be placed a few thousand kilometres one from another.

Need a few tips in regards to travelling (car hire/bus/trains) and what to watch out for .

Any links relevant to the subject will be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Jarren

Might be helpful if you named the cities you were planning on visiting.

Given that you state the factories may be thousands of km apart you're already really ruling out car-hire and buses so you're left with trains or planes. Is cost an issue?

Have you contacted Enterprise Ireland or the Department of Foreign Affairs? They might have useful info that is likely more relevant than stuff that people on here would come up with.

There's probably some Sino-Irish business association that could also help.

I second that it's important to mention the cities you'll be visiting or else it will be difficult to point out anything specific. Try to make use of the high-speed rail network, its really quite impressive. Also, if you want to get involved in tourist activities, it will depend very much on what you're interested in. Statistics show China has an up and coming theme park scene. Might not be your thing if you're on a business trip but it could be an interesting and strange experience. There's a park called the Kingdom of the Little People full of dwarfs - supposed to be quite weird to say the least.

I found this page very good for information around the trains while I was travelling in China.

I used these two pages for booking flights. Travel Zen & Ctrip

Both train and airline services are really good in China
