BMW e90 LCI mpsort- runflat to normal tyres

    Hi

I know there are many many threads concerning changing from run flat to normal tyres on BMWs on here and believe me I have read them all!

What I am wondering is if there is anyone on here who has changed to normal tyres on a LCI e90 m sport (it's a 320d :( ) I've read lots of positive reports for pre LCI e90s but there were suspension changes introduced with the LCI that supposedly make it ride better with run flats. So I'm interested to see if anyone has done this on a LCI e90 and what their opinions were.
My priority is improved ride on Irish secondary roads and the decrease in turn in reported by some after changing to normal tyres would not overly concern me in a 320d

My alternative approach is to change from the concrete Bridgestone RFTs to Michelin PS2 ZPs so would also be interested to here if anyone is using the PS2 ZPs and their opinion of them

    Thanks

Same as Pre LCI, smoother drive, cheaper to change to non run flats.
just bear in mind you will have no spare unless you pick up a space saver to throw in the boot for emergencies.

    Thanks kceire
Can you (or anyone else) recommend a particular (non run flat) tyre for the e90? Michelin PS2, PSS are popular it seemds although very expensive, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and Falken FK452 also seem popular.

Also, anyone running the Michelin PS2 Zero Pressures (ZP) ?

The Falken 452s have been replaced by the 453s, which are supposed to sort out some of the road noise issues with the 452s. They're only just out so they should be bang up to date tech wise.

What's with the sad face next to the 320d? Check carzone 2012 BMW. I'd say 95% of the cars on there are 316d.

Thanks pajo, I suppose the sad face is a bit misleading, it's not a reflection of disatisfaction with my car,it's more that I like it so much that I can't help but wonder from time time how nice it would be to have a straight six under the bonnet rather than the 4 pot diesel, but my current situation where I drive over 500 miles a week means that the 320d makes sense and not a 335i or 335d - hence the sad face!

I changed to Michelin PS3's on the 330 over the summer, standard staggered 18" M Sport set up was €840 well worth the money the wet grip is excellent!

Thanks Shane, somehow I had missed your post where you previously described your positive result with PS3s.

My mind's made up now, I'm switching to normal tyres :)

I switched to standard Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on my pre LCI E90 M Sport with staggered 18" setup too. Have no regrets though the Sessantas have a very fragile wall (I've already had to replace 1 due to a fight with a curb). Very good tyre though and way more comfortable than the Bridgestone RFTs orginally on it.

May try these next time though, walls are meant to be a bit stronger and they are a decent mid range tyre for the money:
