Another Mame Q!

Hay lads,
I'ev another mame question,
I'm working on a new mame cab and Ive been playing around with a new (to me)
front end.Maximus Arcade.
So far I've found it excelent.I just trying it out and getting my software in order on my main pc and the new mame pc is not ready yet.
Anyway
Everythings working perfectly.All art/snaps coming up where it should be and games are all running.
One prob tho.
In one game,SNK League Bowling (a game I always play when boozing)
The neogeo MVS marquee shows up on the screen while the game is playing.
This takes a good few inches off the top of the game area.
I've tried a few other games and this is not an issue.

Any ideas?

I think that might be a setting in Mame itself, when the game is on hit the tab key and have a look in the settings there, i think there is an option to show stuff like that.

Been using mame for years and there so much stuff I still dont know about.

The Last Bandit

Check the artwork folder (or is it marquee) in the mame dir.

Zip file with the same name as the ROM is the one with your artwork being display, I think there are options as to the size and alignment of the images.

Ah, a leisure 2000! Same as my first cab. I really miss that thing such a big hulk of a machine.

Looks like the same design as the BAS cab I have, even with the mad locking bars at the bottom protecting the coin box :rolleyes:

The locking bars are no more!
Got them off and the coin door out and repainted.New locks and a few other bits repainted or cleaned up.

Also trying out some stuff with the marquee.I laser cut a sheet of white paper to the right size.Then lazered out the letters on thick orange card.
So only the letters light up.Used a soft bulb to so they just glow nicely!The two sheets are sandwithced between 2 sheets of 3mm acrylic.
My new buttons and ipac came in the post today!I'll give yous an update over the weekend.

Here's an update on this project,
Got a good bit done over the weekend.
Old buttons out,Sanwa buttons in and Ipac wired.Black start buttons and a triple button I added for Coins and Shift.
To be honest I thought it(the triple button) was going to be physically smaller but Its growing on me.And also I really don't want to add buttons to the CP or have a load of "Shift" buttons.
Man those Sanwas are sweet compared to the happ.
Got Maximus just about configured.
So I got a few games of street fighter in over the weekend.
I cant really change out the joysticks because of the way there mounted but I found down on the player one sick is a bit dodge.
Here she is anyway.(excuse the monitor,work in progress!)






Found a nice place inside the top coin door for the HIFI and a USB hub.
Power button is there too till I drill it out later.

All in all its nearly there.Not bad considering I only got it a week ago!

When you say shift buttons, you dont need them, you can set shortcuts like hold down player 1 and press button one to go back etc. I think thats what you mean when you say "shift"

On the shift key,There was a button in the middle of the cab.
I didnt want to have loads of button combos to complicate things while being able to add/remove games to list,pause,escape etc
I'm going to keep the triple button for the moment I think.
It doesn't take away from the over all look.( i dont think so anyway)
