eBay & location 'issues'

Has anyone got a 'work-around' for successfully purchasing from an eBay seller who will only sell within the UK?

I'm after something but the auction will not accept a bid from me because the seller has restricted bids to the UK. I've emailed them thru eBay messages asking them to accept a bid (done this lots of times in the past and generally have been successful) but not had a reply to date. Parcel Motel allows me to use a UK/Belfast postal address OK, but thats not the problem.

So is there any way to successfully bid?

I've even tried registering a new account with the PM address in Antrim as a 'home' address, but this fails at the verification stage.....

I've had a scan of the existing threads and searched (tho not too extencively as it needs a fairly "generic" search) but not seen any answers

    Thanks

I think it has to do with your billing address for your credit card.

I got around this a while ago by using a 3v card and registered it to my brother's address in the Uk. This was a few years ago so they may have tighten up on this.

Yeah, in trying to create a new eBay account, this is the issue all right. But I was hoping for a method to 'fool' (legally) eBay and/or the seller so that I could bid on the item, and in regard to this, the issue is simply one of geography - ie eBay see my existing account as Irish and bars access to the auction if the seller only chooses to accept bids from UK based bidders only.

I order stuff and use a uk address on occasion - both are tagged my irish credit card.

I go into account settings and set my UK address in the list as 'primary address'

    Hey, BigLad :D
Thanks for the reply. Prompted by your suggestion, I created a separate address (being the ParcelMotel address in Antrim) and nominated it as my primary address (for the purposes of this auction anyway) and

BINGO ! it works, and now I've successfully placed a bid. Excellent. Thanks for the pointer.
