Anybody else notice before that some bottles of red wine apparently contain milk and eggs?

I've meticulously checked several bottles now (:D) and they all say :

contains : sulphites, milk and eggs.

Is this some kind of weird not being sued allergy advice or do they not make red wine from grapes anymore?

I'm surprise that wine doesn't contain nuts.

Warning: This post was made in a thread in which nuts were mentioned.

Don't use the wine that says it has eggs in for making mulled wine, you will end up with pink scrambled eggs. :D

I've a pair of boxer shorts that say "Warning : May Contain Nuts"

A few years ago wine was classed as a food product. Some wine makers use egg white or milk to help make a better wine. Egg whites to make to remove the tannin or milk to help the body of the wine. Only a tiny amount is used. But in today's world if you don't label everything as bad for you, then you get in trouble.

Contains 90% water if you're buying it by the packet.

I think it means that the factories involved in packaging and distribution may handle eggs & milk etc. Not that those things are actually in the wine =p

    Health and safety gone mad!

Rumour has it there was a fella back in the day who only used water to make wine, no grapes (or milk or eggs) at all apparently.

I make my own wine. It's used as a clarification agent. Absorbs all the crap and turns into a weird goo at the base.

Basically the proteins sticks to all the tannins and helps make wine less cloudy.

Try paying more than four euro a bottle. I rarely get a hangover but then again I'd rather spend a tenner on one bottle than a tenner on two.

Maybe that's because you're drinking one bottle. And not two.

In my experience it has nothing to do with price. Not for me anyway!
