judging by even using that image on their website id say they wont last long.

there has to be some catch, give it 4 months before all engine mods, jap imports and hondas are banned.

It's Brittons the broker, aren't they often mentioned here as someone to go to if you are having problems getting a quote?

I'm 25 and I've been with Brittons since I was 21. Started on a 97 almera, 05 Hyundai coupe, 05 golf tdi, 08 2.0 tdi passat, 07 2.0tdi a3 and now a 08 320d. I've had a nice mix of cars in my time with them and they are consistently the cheapest. Great service, I have had open insurance since day 1. Current quote for the 320d was 1200 fully comp. I shopped around and some companies were quoting up to 2000 plus...

They have been around for years and there business model seems to work well..

Came in at €420 for me with windscreen and no claims protection. which sounds about right

€664.91 on a Mitsubishi FTO though.

31, full no claims, no points,

Just got a quote of 950 to insure the Integra. Nowhere near as good as I am currently paying but at least they quoted and its a lot better than some quotes I get!

Britton have always been a bit funny like that. I have gotten quotes of 800 and 4000 from them 6 weeks apart with exactly the same details!

Yes. I'm sure there's an option to reduce it, I did it on the fto quote. Just think its a bit misleading to assume a 3k excess

Just checked again; 250 excess as default. Just over a grand premium if I add windscreen cover and full no claims protection. Its definitely one to bear in mind if Im ever stuck.

i think theyr aimed more at younger lads and the qoutes show it.
wat other companys are good for qoutes for younger lads?

You were getting a quote from XSDirect so.

They have an option to reduce the excess to €1000 but IIRC it will cost you an extra €800 for the privilege.

@ the OP,that sounds like you just got a quick quote which wouldnt be valid.

18 on a provisional and a Type R is about as far away from the type of risk an insurer will quote for as anything Ive ever seen.

They are definitely aimed at young drivers, I got insured for 900 euro on a 1999 1.4 civic. I tried every other insurance place including axa where several family members have been insured with and they wanted 2,500 :eek: some difference..

    €527 Full Comp, Windscreen Cover, Full no claims protection...on a MR2 NA...30 /w 5 years NCB

    Compulsory excess is €3000 though

Doesn't matter as 123 have similar quote

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,974 ✭✭✭Chris_Heilong

They wouldnt quote me on a Skyline GT-T with the details I entered, 33 years old, 2 years NCB. Liberty quoted me on the same details, Hope to get the car in June and will deal with then.

I'm covered with them on an Evo 6.

Having said that, excess is huge, but I can live with that.

Never thought one young lad would be so excited driving 10 years old Scenic...

The quote for type-r, for young person on provisional sounds fantastic, but there has to be a catch. I would read terms and conditions very carefully (high excess, limited mileage etc).
If i am wrong, then i would love to go back in time...

Know of a few lads who have a bike insurance, and their no claim bonus wasn't valid for car. If you have only few months, then it isn't even 1 year.
Don't think it will be taken into account, but you can ask.

on the page where you get your quote, there is a "terms and conditions" heading, there a little box you tick to comfirm that you agree to the assumptions and that the quote is based on these, scroll down to "your car" first lines is "is not imported"

is it an irish 6??if it is then your fine,if its an import i'd be checking with them,i had my evo 5 with them(jap import) a few years ago, then there premiums went through the roof,i rang them for a quote last year and because the car was an import they would'nt touch it.

How does this actually work? I got the same; there is no such thing as an Irish Type R DC2 Integra, yet their system quoted me. Is it up to them to know what they are insuring, and if they issue a policy based on the details given is it their own problem, or is it up to me to know what their limitations are and not to look for a policy on a car they dont want to insure, even if their system is willing to actually give me a quote?

    Hypothetically like...

best thing to do is ring them and ask them directly, unless the've changed there tune in the last year i already know what the'll tell ya...........whatever there quoting system says theres still "duty of disclosure" in other words the onus is on the person who is seeking the policy to divulge all material facts,i.e if its an import or not....there terms and conditions are black and white to me

There is probably a list of 'assumptions' on the website. Eg, that you have no more than 2/4 penalty points, never convicted of an offence, never declined insurance etc
