Hoping to et some help. We are getting married away this summer and my fiancee wants to book an extra seat on the flight for the dress on the way over. On return she is happy to pack it.

So what do i name this passenger when booking? Its with Ryanair. If it was Aerlingus we'd probably take a chance and see would they look after it up the front of the aircraft. Not taking any chances with Ryanair.

To book an extra seat for the carriage of a wedding dress - go online and select 2 seats - the first seat should be booked in the actual passenger's name and other seat should be entered as ITEM SEAT as the Last Name and EXTRA as the First Name. The name EXTRA ITEM SEAT will then be displayed on the online boarding pass - see extract below of an online check-in boarding pass.

Wonder will they charge the departure tax / credit card fee on the dress?

Does the dress get a hand baggage allowance?

Are there pockets in a wedding dress?

Nope. According to their website, there is no cabin baggage allowance for an extra seat that you book to accommodate a wedding dress, or anything else for that matter. :(

Have to say, that always annoys me. If I'm paying full price for an extra seat (for a child/wedding dress/guitar), I think I should get the associated baggage allowance with that seat, particularly for infants.

Totally agree. How on earth the dress is charged the adult fee and then now allowance. I suppose it could be packed in such a way the suits could go inside it which would free up some space in the rest of our luggage.

Could you not just get a cheap cello case and then fill it with stuff. :D
    They don't mention weight
