Anybody else find the long wave reception indoors in Waterford is very bad , shocking bad interferences on bandwidth. It was never as bad as this a few years ago . Old man trying to listen to sunday mass on rte LW for example or Test Match Speciial on BBC radio 4 long wave . Thanks.

It's just part of the general malaise that affects the AM bands these days.

As less people listen to them, interference from a multitude of sources goes unnoticed or unreported.

Power line data transmission, computer monitors, mobile phones, industrial noise etc have all contributed to raising the noise floor.

It's a pity, but not much you can do, apart from getting a good radio!

Spanish stations come in nice and clear at night alright.. there are some sweet spots in the town for it, but as decies mentioned its not practical... its bad enough that someone might get suspicious at you parked on a street for ages, without them thinking your a right loon when you tell them the reason your parked up haha

MW is even worse of course, without BBC radio Wales listening to football would be all but impossible cos 5live is hopeless in daylight. Esp the afternoon curiously.

Bought a Nissan car in 2010 and discovered that the LW did'nt work at all in it.

I am in the UK regularly and wanted the LW for 252 reception.

Why would you think to check the LW reception on a test drive?

Anyway, complained and eventually Walsh's sorted it.

It seems that LW does not work in any recent Nissan car because they don't run coax from the aerial just some random bit of wire. There is not even a proper antenna socket in their radio's.

Incidentally, was able to listen to 252 on the motorways around Brittany with tolerable reception in daytime hours.
