So I've been noticing recently that the number of cars on the road with a failed headlight is really high and appears to be getting worse. Tonight on a 10min to/from drive there were seven cars missing a working headlight. 3 in a row at one stage, the leader being a Garda car, incidentally that’s the third local (Naas) Garda car I seen in the last weeks missing a working headlight.
I remember Leo Varadkar making a big deal about this when introducing Penalty points for this some time ago. That’s the point if the guys tasked with enforcing the law don't know that they are failing it (I understand the road traffic acts don't apply to the Garda).

How does someone not notice that their lights aren't working????

Even worse, lately I'm seeing more and more driving with no lights on at all at night or the mornings. I saw two this evening on the way home at 8pm. I saw one this morning at 7am. All happened to be women. So that's how they get cheaper insurance quotes.:pac:

Not anymore, all quotes must be gender neutral. :)

Should be but are not in practice. I have been testing that this week with a friend the same age and asking for quotes on the same car. It's amazing with what we got back. But that's another topic.

We seem to be getting a thread a day on this subject. I do see the odd one, but not the numbers that others are seeing, but that's probably because I generally do less mileage. I don't think they're motorbikes, but even if I did, I wouldn't drive any differently.

One eyed monsters would have been a better thread title, those drivers are complete dicks...

In a ten mile drive yesterday I came across 15 cyclops

    Roughly 50/50 gender wise.

The driving without lights thing drives me nuts.

Then every second thread would be complaining about all the Gardaí on the roads

I saw one of those a few days ago in Sallins.

I counted the cyclops' one evening comin from Blanch to Naas via Maynooth.
41 cars with blown bulbs. And i'm not exaggerating.

Just put a note on the RSA facebook page asking if they planned to run a campaign about faulty lights. Wonder if they get back...

Car behind me last night with full beams on, only dimmed when a car was coming the other way. I say dimmed but what he/she was actually doing was turning their lights down to parks and putting on the front fogs at the same time! Did this every time a car came the opposite direction so wasnt like it was a mistake the first time. My thinking is obviously both dims weren't working, be it a wiring fault or the bulbs were blown but damn it you would think the person might think about fixing it.
