running shoes

7 months ago I decided to change from my standard Reebok's because they were worn out and my shins were getting dodgy. Went into Elverys in Dublin city centre and they did the gait analysis and gave me Asics Gel 1170 for overpronation.

anyway ever since I got these I haven;t been able to run at all. I keep taking a few weeks off hoping that'll sort it out but it's always the same story. I'll be fine the first day, the second day (with a day or rest in between) I'm right shin is killing me, and these are just two mile runs. So clearly these shoes are not for me...

So any ideas on what shoes I actually need? I read somewhere that stability would be much better for overpronation than cushioned. any ideas?

    Thanks!

I was in an Elverys branch over Christmas checking out some socks.
A woman was telling a sales assistant she was taking up running, the sales assistant then spent 5 mins explaining all the injuries she was prone to getting, working from the feet up to the lower back. Now this was before she even stood on the treadmill, I'm sure she was either put off or sold something inappropriate.

Advice - go to a specialist running shop for a 2nd opinion (Amphibian King, Runways or Runworx if you are in Dublin)
