Was I arrested?

I can't remember what happened the other night but know I had a conversation with a Garda. I woke up in my own bed so I definitely wasn't taken to a Garda station or into custody, can you be arrested without being taken into custody?

I called into the main Garda station awhile ago to ask was I in trouble. I was assured by the Garda behind the desk that there was no record of me or of any incident where I think it happened so he said just give it a few weeks and if ya here nothing you'll be grand.

I'm still absolutely terrified though, I have a really bad feeling I messed up badly.

    What can I do?

I assume you had drink taken if you can't remember?

the Garda was probably just checking that you were ok to get home or more likely moving you on away from the pubs...

I'm not going to get on your case, but if you can't remember what happened you might want to look into something else. If it was alcohol you need to get better at gauging your limit. You don't want to get to the point where you are actually kept over night for your own safety.

I'd say for now, you're okay though. Sounds like you were just being checked up on.

If you were arrested you would have woken up in a cell.
Its not unknown for the Gardai to drop harmless drunks to their door as long as they are not acting the bowsy.
This is done just to get them off the street/road where they would be a liability to themselves and others
