Tax Credits Question

    Hi,

I got a tax credit certificate for 2013 and under tax credits it says I am entitled to a Personal Tax Credit of €1650.00.

However when I do a salary calculator on a couple of the accounting firms sites, it comes up that I have €3550 tax credits.

I am single, a paye worker, living at home.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

    Thanks

A normal PAYE employee (not a company director or a sole trader/ self employed person) should have credits of €3300 in 2013 consisting of €1650 Personal credit and €1650 Employee credit.
Anything outside of that may refer to something like a rent credit or credits based on your particular circumstances. The figure computed by the websites mould presumably have been based on the answers to the questions you gave.

For a list of credits, see here

So according to that list, I am entitled to a single person credit of €1650(is that the personal credit??)
And also entitled to a PAYE credit of €1650.

However on my tax credit cert from the revenue I am only down for a personal tax credit of €1650, should it not also have on the tax credit cert another credit for €1650? presumably the PAYE credit?

Just not sure how it fully works, hence all the questions.

    Thanks

The personal tax credit is occasionally known as the single persons tax credit.Occasionally a credit gets dropped off by the system which is why everyone should check their credits via their paye anytime account at the start of every tax year.
Just login. Look at the current year (2013) tab to see what credits you have been allocated.
It's colour coded. Green for what you have been allocated, blue for what you may be able to claim and grey for not allowed.

    Cheers thanks for your reply.

I signed up earlier to PAYE Anytime but have to wait for them to post out a pin before I can access it.

I presume my company will have got the same tax credits cert as me, if the PAYE credit is not on it, would that affect my monthly salary payment from them?

Yes. Your employer gets the same details as you. So since you are waiting on the pin, i'd call the paye 1890 number in Monday to sort it over the phone.
