Penalty Points

What would you like penalty points to be given for? and what fines to go with them?

For me, points for incorrect light usage, including not replacing blown bulbs. This can include using FG's when not foggy, not using indicators when turning, or using them when not turning. 1 point and a €40 fine. Speed cameras would also be able to pick these up.

Mod's hope this is going to overstep any boundries. I am sure you will delete if it does.

I'd love to see them for idiots who stop in a lane which is for both right turns and straight ahead, and only turn on the indicator when the lights change from red to green.

Its overstepping the boundaries of reality anyway.

I highly doubt the speed vans give point for blown light bulbs.
but its very annoying when you see a car with lights on one side only not even a Parker working easy yo think its a Bike.

I'd say the only rime point are give for that if you piss of a guard and can't find any thing else wrong.

With you on the fog lamps 100%.

What about people who have one headlight bulb blown so they insist on driving with the remaining one on full beam ? Douchebags !

Do you actually find that dangerous, or just annoying?

The problem is that bulbs can go anytime.
As a Hgv driver I do a walk around check of my truck before i drive it 4-5 times a day .
Bulbs usually go when I'm driving

I don't drive with fogs on.
But does it not apply to having the rear fog lamps on?
My car has a very short range with the fogs, a lot shorter than the dip beem.

Remove penalty points completely. That is just my opinion though.

    - People driving well below the speed limit. 30km/h in a 50km zone is infuriating.

    - People who use motorway lanes incorrectly.

    - People who do not move of straight away when the traffic lights turn green, therefore creating more traffic jams.

    - People with blown headlights, is this some new fashion trend I am missing out on? Its endemic this year for some reason.

    - People who do not indicate in good time, or at all.

    - Or don't realise the indicator is still on half a mile later.

There's one place on the ring road in kilkenny where the left lane is just for turning into the shopping center and the right lane is straight on. If you go into the shoppin center there's a small roundabout and you come back out in the left lane of the road. The amount of people I've seen just drive straight through and the amount of near misses is unreal. It happens every second time I pass that junction, should defo be 2 points to cop people on a little

I do find it dangerous to a point that I have to wear glasses when driving at night, the only lens I wear are reflective lenses. When a full beam blares into my eyes I suffer from momentary blindness and then I suffer with headaches for about 5 mins afterwards.
I used to drive for a living and had to give it up I would come across it that often.
Now when I wear the glasses at least I don't go blind but still get the headaches.

30km/hr might annoy you, if you're in a rush .
But if you live in a town you mighn't always want to be driving around at 50km

i'd be more concerned about the lunatics flying through at 80km/hr myself

Mobile phone use - its crazy how people think its ok to be driving around whilst having a natter.

    Lack of indicator use
    - usually a sign that the person driving the car thinks he/she is the only person on the road.

    Sunday drivers
    - the ones that just drive soooo slow all the time :p

The wrong lane drivers - the ones that drive in the wrong lane on motorways slowing other driver down.

No, that's not what they meant, and you know it. Holding up traffic and going dangerously slow is infuriating.
Old men/women who cannot see and shouldn't be on the road are the usual culprits.
