Following a very impressive victory in the opening round of the Red Mills Open Unraced Stake at Clonmel last weekend, Ballycannon Hope has been sold and will not be taking his place in Sunday's second round.

Ballycannon Hope is a half-brother to the brilliant Sparta Maestro and looked exciting in victory last weekend. He flew from the boxes and won in 28.84.

It is understood that he has been bought by Durham-based Ted Soppitt.

Despite his defection, the fifth heat still promises to be a cracker, with Tom O'Neill's fastest first-round winner Glenanore Dancer set to face another impressive winner Phoenix Bolt and the talented Screen Critic.

As the Fraser Black- trained runners are all owned by the Diamonds-Are-Forever Syndicate, they will be guarded right through the competition and Droopys Margo can set the ball rolling for them in the second heat, while one would also have to fancy her kennel companion Ashford Castle in the third heat
