The gearbox mount on my S80 is on the way out...It connects to the bottom of the gear box to the subframe.

I can buy replacement bushings that are a higher spec to the original and cost €20 or so less than a complete unit.

Is there any way of making then solid and if so is there any negative effect or will I just buy the replacement bushings??

Do u have a press and the required tools to press in and out of the mount. Personally I'd just buy the complete mount and bang it in and be done with it.

I have a press made up with box iron and truck jacks :D Crude but works

I don't mind buying the unit but it will wear eventually and on my local roads that happens pretty quick.

So either I put in solid mounts or replace then with fancy Polyurethane ones??

Well solid wont work anyway as its a mount for a reason it's needs slight flex so if u put it solid its gona crack and that's a fact so go with the stronger one if you wish.

As you can see in the pic the inner part of the bushing is 'foating'...... I'm guessing if this was a full piece of rubber with a steel sleeve that it would last longer and still provide the movement needed like the ones in the pic but without having them in my hand I don't know how strong they are
