Hi all just wondering if the following battery volt stats sound healthy? Car off reads 12.4 v when car is running it goes to around 14 v and when it's cranking it drops to around 9 v. The battery is in car since I got it 5 years ago and is sealed for life one and the indicator on it is still green so I'm thinking its ok? Car is 1.8 focus tdci 2003. Checked brothers transit connect and readings were not much diff either..
    Thanks
    Gavin

What has you concerned about it?

    Hey Ded zebra
It can be a bit harder to start than normal in the cold of late. It will always start but might need to be cranked for a bit longer than normal. I have had the glow plugs done already too. It's due a service which will be done next week anyway might help fuel filter will be getting changed then too.

When it's turning over does it sound like a normal speed or slower?
How long does it take to start? more than 2-3 seconds?
Is it only the first start in the morning that's bad (cold) or is it all the time?

It's only the first start in the morning ya it's fine after that then. It can take about 10 seconds maybe if its cold enough outside. Also sometimes there is like a miss in engine for first mile or so driving very slight tho doesn't jump or anything. I think it sounds like normal speed on turn over.

Sounds like it is probably a problem with the glow plug circuit or a fueling issue then to me.

just as an update to this. i put in some engine cleaner last Thursday and 1/2 tank later the slow start and mis fire are gone so something must have been dirty so glad nothing needs replacing i say.
