Thorn Tree Forum - technical problems

I've been trying to access the Thorn Tree Forum on the Lonely Planet website since Christmas and I keep getting the same holding page saying there is an error and they are working to fix it. This is dated 26th December and hasn't been updated since.

Anyone been able to get online or know what's going on? Almost 2 weeks in peak holiday booking planning time is a long time for a site like this to be down.

Thanks for that. I figured it was something sexually inappropriate but can't understand how it's taking so long to vet all the posts. There's not that many of them.

It's an invaluable resource to me when I'm researching trips or even just for some entertaining daydreaming about potential destinations. Hope it's back soon.

Any recommendations for other forums to peruse now that LP is down?

I've been using tripadvisor forums but are there any other good ones?

    Bootsnall have some regular forums.

For more technical practicalities there is a flyer forum

I have tried to wean myself off the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree MB. Every forum have regular(s) sapping the life of almost every thread or question asked.

They did have a "World of Sport" forum. But was closed a few months ago. That was understandable adversarial.

Nail on the head, really. It's a fantasic resource for someone like me, who would dip into it casually whenever I need very specific information. But even my infrequent visits made the above clear. Pretty aggressive posts amongst regular users directed at each other and towards new users. Shame to see it offline, though.

Same here. I'm trying to plan a trip to Burma and as everything is so changeable there it's great to have on the ground information but some of the snipping between regular posters can be infuriating. They posted yesterday that they'll be working over the coming MONTH to get the different branches back online.

Some of the forums are back up now, but not all regions :-(
