    Hi,

Im thinking of going to Oz in next few months and would prefer to work in a bar environment when I get there. I dont have any bar experience (apart from drinking in them!)

Would something like this be beneficial to getting my foot in the door?

    Thanks

Honestly, unless you want to work somewhere that serves mostly cocktails or wines etc, you're better off getting actual experience working in a bar. Even with cocktails so many places have their own way of doing them so you should just concentrate on knowing the basics i.e what ingredients are used for what. As someone who has previously worked as a bar manager, I'd hire someone with no course and 2 weeks experience over someone with no experience and a 2 week course.

That's not to say there is no benefits to the course - the theory would be a huge help if you are really interested in cocktails and wines. As a foot in the door though, actual experience wins out every time.
