Help I'm in real trouble

    I was caught shoplifting nearly 6 months ago second offence. I know it was stupid and wrong and I am paying for it now. I have a lot of problems I am not using this as an excuse but I am mentally unstable and seeking help for this.
    I was told by Gardai that I may get a second caution after they asked me to supply a letter from HSE psychiatry unit I attend. The note the hse sent was as the guard informed me not enough as it was handwritten and stated I had mental health issues and would not be advisable to send me to court (I did not see the letter but Guard told me this is what it said) They just rang before Christmas looking for another letter as they know I have had problems.


    I just went to my Doctor to get a medical history sent to the guard which states I am on medication for a depressive disorder and I am pregnant. I am terrified I will have to attend court for this and ruin my life my family will not want to know me and I have told no one of this. The Stress is killing me. I have suffered a miscarrage earlier last year and this baby is longed for but I know the stress and anguish I feel is not doing it any good. I am waiting to hear back from the Guard, if he says I will have a court appearance I dont know what I will do as life would'nt be worth living my Mother has alzheimers and my family would disown me if this got out. Also the offence happened down the country and I am living in Dublin if it does go to court do i get a solicitor from country or Dublin. If anyone could please let me know any information they might have I would be so greatful. No need to tell me what I fool I have been as it haunts me every minute of every day.

    Sounds like the Gardai are being very understanding to your circumstances. The only way to keep this out of the court is for the Gardai to decide not to prosecute the matter through court. If I were you I would do everything to satisfy the Gardai. Best of luck.
