I have an old Toshiba laptop that will only boot into safe mode. When I try to boot into normal Windows, the screen goes black. Apparently there is a button configuration or something I can type while in safe mode to get it going again but I've no idea what it is. Any ideas?

Press "F8" key while Toshiba logo appears.
Choose the entry "Repair your Computer" and press "Enter".
Then "choose the keyboard layout" and click "Next"
In the following screen a window with your username appears.
Type your windows password as you would log on to your account and press "OK":
The next screen offers several options to repair or diagnose your computer system.
To start the recovery, click on "Toshiba HDD Recovery"

    Hope it helps

Set the Date and Time to current date and time in safe mode reboot it. This should solve the black screen problem
You probably need a new bios battery

Think you should say this will delete all program's added to laptop since it was bought before the user restores to factory settings
