If you had to choose a setting for a new soap where would you have it?

Real or fictional but must have a residential setting.

    Personally id like the shire.

somewhere where theres south asians of the Bollywood variety.

you could have all the tension of regional religious conflicts, medieval punishments, poverty and multiple wives (just think of the bitching plots), cheezy cheap inferior furnishings AND *ridiculous cultural dancing at the end.
You may even be able to throw in some of that backwards Borat writing.

*(allows for a subtle racist sense of superiority which in turn makes you feel better about yourself a bit like with jeremy kyle).

What about a soap, which only the characters in Corrie, Eastenders, etc. can watch? Like a soap...within a soap? Soapception if you will.

    ... :pac:
All soaps following the same formula. Location doesnt matter.

You could set a soap in the 1500's and it would still be the same formula as coronation street :P

There is two filters. One is Safe Filter off and one is the Soap Opera off filter.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

    Neptune.

Those miserable Neptonians, always cheating on each other, calling each other "Yeeew stupid space slag!!!", and one of the cast dying every Space Xmas..........which would be about every 165 years.......

Well we had a grand soap years ago set in Wicklow, couldn't get any better, and they had to mess with it and then get rid of it.

I blame Fidelma. Everyone was happy til SHE came along. Tramp.

I wouldn't mind where they set a new soap, so long as -

The characters don't spend most of their time eating in the local greasy spoon/caf/burger joint when they live like 10 seconds walk away

The characters dont always "just happen" to meet a neighbour when walking along the street and have something important to say/ask a favour/meet later to discuss something etc. etc..

Everybody who works doesn't live a minutes walk from their workplace

When the characters are having their bit on the side, it's not with someone who lives on the same street

Almost everybody's house doesn't look like it has just been redone by the crew fromRoom to Improve
