Anyone have any thoughts on Vortex Viper Scopes? I was looking at the PST range. I think they are priced around 700 / 1000 euro.
They come with a lifetime warranty so they mustn't be a bad scope..
Would they handle the kick from a .300wm? I also have a 6.5x55 that I'd be using it on...

Had a really good look at them in Duffys in Galway, lovley bit of kit , would class it above the Bushnell Elite, but if I was going that far with my budget I think I would look at the Night Force, BTW the prices in Galway are really good, its that monry stg in the Uk, wouldnt mind been in your position ;)

Viper PST scopes offer all possible features but they lack a big of glass quality for this price range. Weaver Tactical and Sightron are both direct competitors.

Based on my testing I would say that Sightron scopes offer better optical properties for the same money but lack FFP arrangement. Weaver is similar to Vortex (a bit better optically maybe, it depends on sample variation I guess) and also offers FFP.

However I would also suggest you look at IOR scopes if you are already near the 1000€ mark. They are just one class better than all the optics mentioned above.

Kaps are very underrated, very clear glass , brilliant under the lamp, if your up near Dublin you can have a look through mine and see what you think of them.

Okay, I was doing some research on which scope to go for my new 17 HMr. Magnification, reticle, glass and value for the money were the factors I was paying attention to. Long story short, received my new Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50PA in the post yesterday. Did some looking through it today at a day light and as it was getting dark as well. There was nothing I didn't like about it so far: nice built quality, light enough for 30mm tube with that magnification, nice caped target turrets and wide plex reticle( that's what I was after) The biggest impression i got was from the glass clarity. I was compering it with my Zeiss Victory HT on my deer rifle at a different magnifications and have to admit-Vortex Viper is a lot of scope for the money. I kinda was expecting really noticable difference in clarity (having in mind 4x difference in price), but it just wasn't there...not 4x, not even 2x in my opinion. (Kinda found it hard tu justify spending two grand on zeiss for a moment:rolleyes:)
Anyway, I think it's going to make a real nice bunny busting scope on my HMR:)
Just my own experience with Vortex, would recomend it with no doubt.
