Troubleshooting signal/dish alignment

    Hi,

I'm in the middle of trying to setup a TV tuner card on my computer. The problem is I can't seem to get any signal/channels on my computer while a regular STB by the TV can get channels.

Just wondering what is the best way to tackle this? I am thinking that the dish may be aligned enough for the STB to receive channels but that the tuner card is not as powerful so needs a better aligned dish?

Are there any PC utilities I can use to determine the status of the satellite installation and what satellites it is pointed at/can receive.

    Any tips appreciated, thanks.

what specs are on the tv card, are you taken a direct line from the lnb, satellite cable can't be split.

Yes, i'm using a quad lnb with a direct line to the tuner.

MM the card seems fine, might be worth trying a different output from your lnb, quad lnbs are actually 4 separate lnbs and it is possible that one of them can be faulty without affecting the others

Have you checked the software on your PC, maybe there is a setting/option box that has to be selected to switch the LNB on. Some regular STBs have this setting.

Or maybe you need to plug in the power cable into the card as well (though I thought that was mainly needed if using motors or switches).
