    Hi all,

Just wondering what your thoughts on this would be.

Most obvious option would be to use a laptop live. Press click. Loop of a basic drum track plays. I'm thinking along the lines of what Gruff Rhys would do or Bell X1 did it recently on their live acoustic tour.

So basic sounding loops, just a kick, snare, cymbal. Can be electro sounding too...

Is there a way I could use my android phone to just play loops. I could upload them and play them as music files? or is there a drum app?

Any danger my phone would ring during the song!!!

Other option could be a drum machine, but I can't see myself using half of what these would offer. I'd just be using a basic drum loop through out

Definitely not phone as it will make all manner of noises that will be amplified by your rig.

    Could you use your phone?
    Yes
    Should you use your phone?
    No

    :)

Your best bet is to use a laptop or some other form of media player

As Gaspode said, you're in for all sorts of problems if you use your phone

if you have a laptop, get something like EZdrummer, loads of midi patterns you could loop, and if you have a sequencer you can edit them too.

plus its not as smelly/thick/argumentative as a drummer :D
