It should be ok, its a strong mix but it'll be ok at that ratio I think.
You just done your annual injector clean :)

Keep topping back up with diesel every chance you get.

Personally, if I put petrol in a modern diesel, I would'nt even switch on the ignition.

Sorry don't know the engine but if its a common rail diesel (I think it is) it can do damage to the engine, better said the high pressure injector part of the engine...
Policy with wrong fuel in a modern diesel is not to even start it and get the complete system drained... Insurance/AA can help out...

I wouldnt have thought insurance would help on this unless you talking about break down assist

I was a passenger in a diesel car that was filled - from nearly empty AFAIK, or not far off anyway - with petrol, and we drove to Cork in it from the Dublin end of the Naas Road

It was taken away and drained (I presume, I was never given the details, the culprit was totally and utterly mortified and never spoke of it again!) and was absolutely fine to drive back to Dublin again that evening.

It was an 04 from memory.

A lot here would suggest draining her and they're probably right but I'd just keep her brimmed tbh...

Anything over 5 % petrol I would drain it.

The advice from the AA is drain it.
If you've added less than 10% petrol (5 litres in a 50 litre tank) – Top up with diesel and run normally unless the manufacturer has advised otherwise.

If you've added more than 10% (5 litres in a 50 litre tank) petrol - Drain the tank and refill with diesel.

It's not worth taking a chance.

Getting it drained as we speak, wasn't happy with it, got rough enough after a few miles...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,715 ✭✭✭Gryzor

Cheers for all the replies, car definately got rough after a couple of miles. Also she was taking 8 or 9 turns to start, usually she starts after a couple....

Yerman charged €60 to do the job, took me in at 9pm, took about an hour, so can't argue with that. After the draining, within a mile or so, the roughness was definitely gone, and it starts straight away again....

Feckin expensive night for a 30 second blond moment

I feel for you my friend, hasn't happened to me but I just know it will at some point.
