The daily cock up on the Six One News

There is at least one every day.

Sometimes errors in reporting, sometimes neither newsreader knowing who's turn it is to read, more often technical problems.

This evening we were told by Pascal Sheehy of arrangements to have an unfortunate mountain climber's body being flown home from Mount Kilimanjaro - In Tasmainia.

We were then treated to scratching noises throughout the weather forecast.

The vast majority of the people charged with producing the aspects of the Six One are far from overpaid.

It's a daily news show, there's going to be mistakes now and again.

Point taken, but the Paschal Sheehy cock-up about Tasmania was unforgivable. It's like something you might hear on community radio. Surely somebody must have been listening back to that audio piece to see his error?? They had the whole morning and afternoon to prepare for it.

By now and again do you mean literally every day?! It's shocking how badly produced and presented the RTE News is, any other daily news show I"ve watched over the years doesn't have as many mistakes as RTE.
It's been constant over the years and I'm shocked to see that it is still happening to the same presenters who should know better than shouting into the background "Can we do that again." Utterly utterly unprofessional.

Well this evening's cock up beats them all !

Poor Dobbo - I felt for him being dropped high and dry like that.

If you haven't seen it - Don't worry, you will.

It will be viral by this time tomorrow. :D

I didnt see the bulletin, but Pascal Sheehy is one of the best, a decent man, and not above rectifying an error. Anyone can have a slip of the tongue. He's very efficient too.

I think Dobson and Sharon are both terrible. They can't read a full sentence.......properly. Keep putting the pauses in all.....the wrong places.

And the Anus McGrianna cock ups are priceless. He really comes across as self important twat.

Popular opinion is really against you on that one. The overwhelming majority seem to love Aengus.

I love him ever since the day, a few years back, I flicked on the lunchtime news and there he was sporting a full beard - and a glorious beard it was at that too.

Sadly it was gone the next day :(

Yea, that really comes across when he's reading pre-determined script off an autocue...

OK, I didn't mean viral in the global sense. I should have just said it would appear on You Tube before too long. Wasn't too wrong either.

I don't recall casting any aspersions on Pascal Sheehy's character. He is indeed a fine reporter.
A slip of the tongue is perfectly acceptable during a live broadcast, but Sheehey's piece was pre-recorded and someone should have picked up on it before it went to air. Sheehy is not alone for the fault in this instance.
And while it wasn't the blunder of the century by any means, it was a cock nonetheless and therefore merits a mention in this thread.

I didn't open this thread to be used as a platform for insulting newsreaders. Or anyone else for that matter. Go elsewhere for that please.

There is nothing wrong in pointing out technical errors and bad mistakes witnessed on TV but personal attacks on individuals aren't welcome here.
