Does anyone know if a couple, one on State Pension Contributory and the other on Disability Allowance:-

Would both get the full Personal rate for each payment (as they do when on JSB/DA)

Or does the Qualified Adult senario take over.

As DA is means tested you would probably end up on the same amount as state pension + a qualified adult.

From this (last paragraph) taken from D.A. Rules, if both on s.w. then both get the Personal Rate.

Not really concerned about means test as they are below the disregard levels.

Both Personal Rates is of greater benefit in this case than just 1+QA.

I think that the DA would be means tested with all of the pension taken into account.http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/means_test_for_social_welfare_payments/assessing_the_means_of_a_couple.html

If the above was the case its worth noting that a qualified adult payment while on a full State Pension Contributory is 153.50.

Just been reading through that link myself and extracting this bit.
If you are getting a social insurance payment (like Jobseeker's Benefit or State Pension Contributory) and wish to claim a payment for your spouse, civil partner or cohabitant only their means will be tested.

On that basis surely when I'm on SP Contributory then only the OH on DA should be means tested but would like to confirm this.

What you have extracted is the criteria for an adult dependant on the type of claim mentioned e.g. JSB and SP contributory. For DA the applicant plus spouse/partners means are assessed.

ooops see that now, so a partner on JSB or SP Contributory, and makes a claim for a QA then only the Quaified Adult is means tested.
