Hi.... just wondering if anyone could relate to this...

I got a phone from Meteor for Xmas. Nokia Ahsa 302.Bought in Blanch. I live in a different county. Issue with wireless on the phone... brought to grafton street, they said they couldnt fix it. Customer Care told me it was policy that I can only return to the shop where purchased and an online representative told me my new phone did not have wireless as an extra feature in the first place... here is the link https://store.meteor.ie/phones/pay-as-you-go-phones/nokia-asha-302
he logged himself off while I was typing to correct him.

So, obtained receipt and box... made numerous calls and finally went to grafton street to explain that I live hours away and would not be travelling to Blanch to have this fixed. Woman messed around with it, told me it was working ok, made me feel dumb and sent me on my way. Tried it today and am getting charged credit... wireless still not connecting correctly. I was told they would have to send it off for repair... and I may/may not get a replacement during this time. Bought on Dec 20th, opened box Dec 25th. I am under the impression that if I snap and demand a new perfectly working phone... I should be looked after. This 'gift' is a pain in the ass and I would rather the cash to go to 02.

hi there, here is the thread you need to post this in
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1558

Ps. If the phone connected to the wifi in the shop, maybe you need to check that you are entering the right access code then check your router!

Turn off your mobile data. Go into settings, under wireless and networks go into more settings and under mobile networks, untick mobile data (that's what it is on Android phones so should be similar enough on Nokia I'd say even though it's not Android). It can't charge your credit then.

Also I'm presuming you have it connected to your wifi with your correct password entered? - Try unconnecting it and re-connecting it re-entering your password too.

    Hope you get it sorted.

RE a refund/replacement, under the sale of goods act (as far as I know) they only have to offer a repair at first instance (it's their choice of repair, replacement or refund so most will say repair). If you push they'll give you some sort of block to use while it's getting fixed.

Thanks... I am new to Boards.ie so learning the ropes...

I am getting on to wifi no problem in work and home... but there is a (H) popping up on the top on my screen when connected. Yesterday, Girl in the shop says it indicates to her that my phone may not be operating correctly and could be using up credit (confirmed today that this is the case) and would need to be sent off to a technician... which could leave me with possibly no phone for a week or so and in fairness... it shouldnt be the case

Thanks looder... sorry don't mean to be messy but i have tried all that jazz unfortunately it aint cooperating.

I swear, the less complicated the phone, the longer you get with them.... even the battery is crap !!

A H indicates Data is being used and not WIFI.

Definitely try turn data off in your settings and then try connect via WIFI.

The girl in the shop sounds like she hadn't a clue. To test WIFI you'd think she would have turned off data when trying it.

    Hope you get it sorted.

P.s. read this thread for some help switching off Data:

sorry to hassle ya... but when I asked about the H... she did keep pointing out that my wireless symbol is present on my phone so wireless is working... when I asked why the wireless symbol is on 24/7 and the H only pops up when i'm logged into wifi and on the net, she said... that the wireless symbol is on all the time to indicate wireless is active on my phone and will pick up wifi if its available (whether or not i'd have access to the wifi is a different story) and she said I should keep an eye on the H becasue it should come up.

I don't have much of a clue about this kind of stuff but I do know I'm getting jipped... i tried following your advice and double checked the data jazz.... found where it says meteor data... but that is the only option and cant seem to turn it off. couldnt find mobile networks but this was under 'preferred access points'

just found '[use preferred access point]' section with a yes ticked... i presume if my preferred access point is meteor data and I click no... i'm sorted?
