I know this thread has probably been done before, I'm heading to Benidorm  on the June bank holiday for a stags for 3 nights. I've heard it's a complete dump. Anyone know any good places to stay (€40 a night roughly)? ?There'll probably be 2/3 people sharing.

Anything to do over there, good pubs??

    Gracias.

We've(me and the wife) have stayed in Albir, nearby, and generally liked the area(Benidorm included)

I went to Benidorm in 2011 and booked the Halley Apartments after reading excellent reviews.
It's not the fanciest place, it's basic but it's clean and is right in the middle of everything. Staff friendly and pool is lovely.

I would recommend here-I'm actually going back in July.

Places to go-well you've got Morgan's Tavern, which is "Neptune's" in the show Benidorm, which is a really lively spot but it gets busy so get there early for a seat. There's several different cabaret acts on every night.
    I personally loved The Stardust.
There was a comedian on one night, Tony Scott, who was hilarious, and various other acts on through the week.

One thing, you MUST try John & Joseph's Cafe for a meal one night. It's well known in the area for the generous portions and it's all great quality at reasonable prices.

You'll be spoiled for choice for pubs and restaurants-we never got the chance to sample everything-a week wasn't long enough!

There's a pub called The Yorkshire Pride, on the doorstep of the Halley and they do a mean roast dinner on a Sunday for €6 with a choice of four meats and all the trimmings.

Lovely little bar called the Tommy Cooper lounge across the road from the Halley with really friendly owners who made us feel welcome every evening. It's small so it's nice to end the night there with a quiet drink and the owner lays out little plates of crackers and nuts complimentary too.

If you DO stay at The Halley, don't opt for a studio if you don't want to take the stairs as there are only two studios and they're both on the 18th floor...the lift stops at the 17th floor.

Other than that, ignore people who call Benidorm a dump. If you're after a lively holiday with lots to do, it's a great place.
Personally I love it and I can't wait to go back.
