Problem with my DVD Recorder

    Hi i used to have a old Panasonic dvd recorder which was very straight forward as all i have is sky digital like many others we decided to get rid of our normal stations from ntl & just have sky satalite boxes in the house. My old dvd recorder box just conected from my sky box & tv by a scart lead. When that box broke i recently invested in a new box the LG - HR929 DVD Recorder but as i can see there is no scart connections anymore all there is is 1 hdmi connection which that connects to my tv & i can see the menu page from the dvd but i cant get my sky box to tune in the only connection is available is coaxial cable but still cant get sky box tuned in on it. Can someone please please help me as im going out of my mind & are these new dvd recorders made for the sky box or is it just for freeview??? Any answers would be really be helpful. Thanks

    The LG most likely does not have a Freeview+ tuner ,therefore it cannot decode the Saorview channels.An ordinary Sly box as far as I know does not have an HDMI output.That means that you need a cable with with an Hdmi at one end and a scart at the other(if such a cable exists) Try posting in the Cables section of this forum and you may get more answers.     Is this the machine? It is not a DVD recorder - it is a hard drive recorder with a blu ray player.

    There is no possibility to record anything on it other than what is received via the tuner. HDMI is never an input and can never be converted to an input on these types of machine. Even if the sky box had HDMI, nothing can ever be recorded via HDMI.

    It should record Saorview ok if you get an aerial as its a Freeview HD machine.

    You cannot record via the coaxial cable from your sky box as it passes an analog RF signal and the machines tuner is digital.

    Best solution is return the machine if possible and buy a Freeview DVD recorder that will have a scart input. They can still be found.
