Can anybody recommend a book for learning the basics and a bit more about social media marketing, Twitter, facebook etc, There are 1000's of books out there but which one, "for dummies" did not seem to get great reviews so hopefully you know better. Thanks

Thing is it moves so fast that any book you get will be out of date by the time it hits the shelves.

And even if you buy an ebook, it will be out-of-date by the time you finish reading it!

You're not listening: even the basics change every few months - or faster if the big players (in Ireland Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+) change their rules in quick succession, or someone new (eg Foursquare) enters the market.

Google Damien Mulley, and see if he's still got his beginners guide free on his website. It's as good a starting place as any, and likely to be be up to date to boot.
