How do I get rid of sulphur smell in the water supply from the individual well? The well is 500ft deep. The neighbours wells are at the same depth and also smelt like sulphur. The sulphur smell left their water after 6 months of construction but mine still smells like sulphur 6 months later. The smell evaporates and the water looks perfect after 5 seconds of running the tap.

Have you ever "shocked" your well? This is a simple process of putting chlorine down the well, turning on the taps until you get the smell of chlorine, turn off taps and leave for 24hrs then simply run taps till smell goes. It cleans out the system and also kills many possible chloriforms that may have built up within the pipes from the well.

I assume you have got the actual well water tested and as you are using it I can only assume that there are no issues with the potable source?
