Drink driving on your record

I'm thinking about getting the lorry licence but 7 years ago I was done for drink driving, does drink driving always stay on your record? Would it go against you to much if you were looking a job as a lorry driver?

Dont want to go to the expense if it ends up a complete waste of time if I cant get a driving job with it!

    cheers

These things stay on your record for life. It generally takes 10 years for these things to become of less interest to insurance companies and other places.
