Problem 1. Key spins in the door barrel. I'm guessing that the barrel needs fixing/replacing.

Anyone any idea cost of getting it done and where I'd go (not a main dealers). I'm in Dublin but can travel.

Problem 2. Pay day isn't till Friday - any ideas on how I'd secure it till then? All other doors bar the drivers door will lock.

When you mean it spins do you mean it swivels around and won't lock?

Sorry yes, I put the key in the lock, lock spins 360, 720+ degrees. Makes no motion or sound as if its even catching the locking mechanism.

Had this happen on my old golf. Can't remember how much but the parts are only a few euro, DIY job if you can find instructions online. Mechanic shouldn't be much, 50e tops I'd guess. It's just a small bracket that's snapped.

Think I just locked the drivers door from the inside and locked passenger door on exit.

Exact same problem with my 406, just needs oiling now and again, no more spinning locks :)

Mind you that's the least of it's problems...

Hmm would spraying silicone spray into the lock mechanism deal with this?

Oh's car does this occasionally with the main key

I use WD40 or 3in1 oil. It's not into where the key goes but around it

    I'll give that a try, thanks :)

Doesn't happen all the time mind, but it's bloody annoying when it does.
