    Having some problems with mame,
everything's running like crap out of the blue.(super choppy and super choppy sound)

when I press f11 the the frame skip is at 0
    is this right?
If i put it up to 10 it seems to run perfect(inc sound)

Ive tried a re-install and its the same ;(

    any ideas?
    cheers

If your PC is able for it frameskip should be at 0.
Is it a dedicated mame machine?

Whats the specs of your machine?
Are you using mameui or command line mame?
I'm not that familiar with mameui, if it uses a mame.ini file like the command line mame it would be worth posting it here for a look or resetting it to the defaults

Any chance your graphics card is overheating or your PSU has reached max. capacity and can't provide it enough power?

The latter might happen if you added any seemingly unrelated cards, USB devices, etc.

I agree, it sounds like it could be an issue with the PC. I've seen similar problems when the CPU heatsinks have come loose resulting in the processor underclocking itself to save it from becoming toast.
