    Hi guys,

Anyone ever try to sell camera in any of Dublin Store? Do you know where?

I got the new Nikon camera in Christmas and try to sell the old one on eBay, but the price is exceed my monthly allowance.

I don't think eBay will increase my allowance as this is my first time to try to sell on eBay. I dont wana sell it on Advert or done deal as the camera is still worthy quite alot of money.

    Any advices will helps.

    Thanks

A camera shop will give you a lot less for your item than you would get for in a private sale.

    Agree with this.

I've sold a camera to Conn's Cameras in the past and got very little for it, but didn't want the hassle of selling on adverts.ie.

I searched advert. The same camera, people are giving very low to the asking price. I guessed if there is other option, the last I will try advert then. :-(

Agreed, it can be very annoying at times. Stupid low ball offers or I can get it cheaper on ebay in an auction that still has 9 days to run:rolleyes:. but there are still a good number of reasonable people to deal with on there.

@OP. There is no harm in asking what they would give you, if you don’t like the price you can always walk away. In my experience they tend to offer you more as a trade against something new than they would give you in cash. (shops that is)

On advert, Some people just ignore you sometime if you said no swapping to be considered! Lol

Unfortunately what you consider it to be worth doesn't really matter to a seller. It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

Whatever is being offered on adverts, chances are Conns and others will offer even less as they need to make a profit for it to be worthwhile. No harm to put it up on adverts and see what happens anyway. You could always use a Honda Accord to drive around and get snapping with your new camera :D

    Ha

For all its flaws - and they are many - adverts.ie is still a pretty good indicator of the going rates for second hand goods.

Don't forget that ebay take a big chunk of your price in fees. 10% of the sale price.

And I think the VAT on an ebay sale comes out of your end (can anybody confirm?).

So even if you can sell it for a bit more on ebay, you might end up with the same amount of cash you would have gotten on adverts.ie!

Sorry I didn't meant to encourage anyone to act against boards rules. What was on my mind was that, that you can associate your boards profile with adverts and you might find reliable boards user who is using adverts as well.

Anyways what camera you have? Or it's a secret? :)

Aw it is not a secret! I got Nikon D700!

You can make an ad in the website and wait for someone who wants to buy a second-hand camera.

Adverts.ie is a fantastic place to do business....I've done many transactions there referring Photography gear.
You need to just have a basic grasp on haggling etc etc
