Irrational fear?

I am a 25 year old woman from London and now living in Dublin. Ive moved home several times .. but have always lived in flats and apartments my whole life.

Im living in an owner-occupied apartment now, but the owner is moving his gf in so I have to move out. As it happens, 3 girls I work with are moving soon too, and want me to live with them.

It seems to make sense, I get on fine with all 3.. But we'd be living in a house and the idea fills me with dread. It seems so unsafe, it would be so easy for someone to break in at any time .. I have never lived in a place with ground floor access. So many windows. I dont know how Id ever get any sleepe at night.

But plenty of ppl live in houses and it doesnt bother them. My friends dont understand my fear at all.. Its a very safe area.

I know Im being stupid, but how do I get over this?.

Is there an alarm in the house? If so then you shouldn't be too worried. The chances of anyone breaking in at night are very slim, people live in houses all over the coutry and quite safely. I would say that you just have this fear because you have never done this before, but this time next year you will be wondering what you were worried about. If it's a safe area then don't worry too much about it.
