Netbook keeps switching itself on

MSI Wind U180 netbook. Brand new. Intel Atom, 1gb Ram, Win7 starter. Has norton preinstalled. Nothing else added.

When you click shutdown on the start menu it closes down and switches off but after about 10 seconds starts up again. The only way to power it completely off is to hold down the power key which means that when you start it up it gives the menu to boot to safe mode or continue as normal.
Also when it goes into sleep mode there is no way to wake it up again other than to hold down the power button to shut it down as it doesn't respond to the FN and sleep key.

I've gone through all the menus/settings but I'm just wondering if I've missed something glaringly obvious. I don't want to look like a complete dope when I go back to the shop tomorrow.

Go to Control Panel/Appearance & Personalisation/Taskbar & Start Menu/Customise the Start menu .... under Start Menu tab check that Power button action is set to Shut Down . It's probably set to Restart atm .

If already set to Shut Down change it to something else and apply then change it back to Shut Down and apply - no idea if that'll work but you'll be bringing it back anyway at that stage :p

Thanks for the input, I had made sure the button was marked to shutdown, tried changing it and then back but to no avail. Was starting to throw up system errors, looking to restore to an earlier point so I took it back and was given a refund as there was no more in stock.

Credit to Argos, no hassles whatsoever dealing with them.
