I have a DAB radio and it works well in Dublin.

I am thinking of buying an elderly aunt a pocket DAB radio.

My aunt lives in Capamore near Limerick city.

Does anyone know what DAB reception is like in this part of the world.

(Specifically, I think she would like RTE Choice/Extra).

Don't have one tbh, but according to this map your aunt in Cappamore should have DAB coverage.

If she can get RTE Radio on 89.4/91.6/93.8/99.0/101.2 she should be able to get DAB. They come from the same site and DAB is transmitted at 4x the power (RTE Radio is 2.5kW and DAB is 10kW (well it's licenced for 10kW anyway)).

Remember this only carries the RTE stations and if she wants Live95/Spirit/Clare FM/Spin/Newstalk/Today FM/4FM she'll need an FM compontent on the radio too.

    I live in Limerick City.

I got a wonderful present of a Sony DAB DAB+ radio in Christmas, 2012.

For the first eight months or so, I had access to all of the RTÉ suite including RTÉ Gold, to which I would have listened a lot.

However, in recent months, all the scan displays is RTÉ Radios 1 and 2 and the signal is still there for these stations but I also get "RTE Gold <NO SERVICE>" and nothing else for any of the other stations.

I don't know what happened or why.

Should be an option to do a reset and full re-scan, the multiplex makeup changed slightly.

    :D

    It worked.

    Thanks for that!

Sometimes, web chat fora are the answer!
