Reasonable legal fees?

    Hi,

I am at the start of a case using a solicitor. (One month) I am considering doing everything myself. I would like to contact the solicitor to instruct him to stop working on my case. I will then get my bill from him, but what should I expect?

I dont believe that he done much work as of yet.

This is the work that I am aware of:

    Initial consultation (free of charge)
Sent a letter to the MIBI.
Sent a letter to the garda.
Made a physiotherapy appointment and paid for it.

I know legal fees can vary a lot, but at this stage, what can I expect? €300? €500? €800? €1000? €2000?

I already posted in a thread here, but thought Id be better off with my own thread.

I saw a previous thread where you described your car accident with an uninsured driver. Iirc the MIBI are being brought into your case and the other driver is disputing the fact of any accident happening at all?

With an uninsured driver, the MIBI as a party, and possible dispute as to liability, I think that it would be a mistake to attempt to do it yourself.

Many solicitors charge something in the region of €1,500.00 + VAT + outlay to €2,000.00 + VAT + outlay for an Injuries Board application, from start to finish. That should give you some idea of what you might expect.

I don't understand why your solicitor paid for your physiotherapy.
