Private Car Park

    Dear All,

I have just one question regarding the car space where I live.

I live in a big building where there is a residential parking space.

Each resident has 1 private car space with an assigned number. It happened twice that somebody else parked in my space even if there is note on the wall (Reserved).

I called the management in both cases and I have been told that there is no clamping service in this builing and that there is nothing I can do except waiting for the guy to remove the car. And in the meantime I do not have a place where to park as there is no street parking and the nearest is 10 mins walking with pay and display.

    Is it true?!?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

I'd block the guy in....make him wait for you....or buy your own clamp...

Its not more or less legal than NCPS and their ilk.

Get some big, really BIG stickers.

Next time someone blocks your parking place, put stickers on one's windows, including windscreen and rear one.

    Don't do this.

Obstructing the view from a windscreen?

    Don't do this.

Obstructing the view from a windscreen?

Only if they drive off with them on and that would be there problem not the op. If they got there windows plastered in stickers the might get the idea

It's owner's duty to have unobstructed view. :P

If one fails to do so - it's one's fault. :]

    Simple. :D

If you are the owner of the house rather than renter and its happening more than you would like, i'd invest in one of those bollards that you can install yourself. Once you drive out in the morning you would have to pull it up and put a pad lock on it, which would be a PITA, but at least you know your space is always there for you.

    Example of Bollard

It is one of the easier types to install. Sill a pain but this is the best chance of avoiding non-regulars to park there. Have this problem in my apartment before in Dublin, fortunately these were pre-installed.

Apartment I used to rent had a clamping service that the space owner could call out if someone was parked in your space. You'd then park temporarily in one of the other free spaces and tell the clamper which one you were in.

Seems like a better solution than the NCPS vulture system.

Had someone park in my space recently, had them clamped, haven't had a problem since. There are no roving gangs of clampers, they are just called at the owners request if their space has been occupied. Done properly it can be useful.

    Most definitely.
The OP is being inconvenienced by a gormless gnome / moron and there's precious little that can be done.
