Looking for something like these

So I'm going shopping in a while, once I sell the watches I've got up on adverts.

My budget will be about 1000. I'm looking for an automatic watch on a leather strap. At least 42mm (definitely no smaller), ideally 44-45mm. I'd like a relatively established brand that won't be too hard to sell on down the road.

I saw this Steinhart on eBay, which is very close to what I'm looking for apart from the strap, but the guy is looking for 1600 (I think it was 900 or so new, but it was a limited run).


This other Steinhart is excellent value at 420, but I'm worried that it's a little conservative for me. I've had a good look through their site, and there's a few that I kind of like, but nothing that's grabbed me too much.


I've also had a look at the Stowa site, and the only ones in budget are a little too small and not quite what I'm looking for.

This Sinn is about double my budget, but very much what I'm looking for:


This Longines is close too.


Any other suggestions?

That's very nice - shame it's a bit small for my likes. I've already 3 Seikos, might go for something different this time, though there some nice Seiko Premier models.

This one? it's definitely a runner, though I like how the white one I linked to above is a little less pilot-y looking.

I'm checking out the archimede site, thanks for that. This collection of theirs is very nice.

That style is growing on me a little actually.

No waterproofing wouldn't bother me on the Steinharts.

Could you post a pic? I haven't served enough time there yet to view their forum! I had a quick look on eBay, and they look a little on the small side for me, but it could be a slightly different model.

I really like that and it's really unique - I think peasant posted that before. I'm just worried that it's a bit niche and could be hard to sell down the road.

Looking for an auto as peasant said (selling a hand wound to help finance this one), but some nice styles there.

I'm beginning to think that I might have to double my budget to get something I'll be really happy with, and that's not a runner at the moment. I'm leaning towards the second Steinhart I posted above to have as a dress watch and splash out on a chrono I really want later.

It's 41mm no box or papers but its the watch moreso than this actual one I'm recommending. Although if the deal is good enough then the box and papers are not as important for me.









Currently at £740. I suspect you would get it for less.

I've a Casio Edifice which is quite similar to that style. I want to get a keeper (at least for a while), and I don't think any of those would interest me for too long.

Thanks for those. The grey Steinhart is still leading the charge though.

I tried on the Hamilton Pan Europ and Lord Jazzmaster Chrono yesterday. Both were quite nice, but I just think there's better value for money out there if I start looking at watches north of 1K.

I'd probably go for the Steinhart Nav B and save a bit of cash if I was going for that sort of style. I do like those watches, but I'm looking for something a little bit dressier (but not quite formal, if you know what I mean).

The Marine Officer grey you suggested earlier is still leading the charge, but thanks for the suggestions!

dont like that Eoin, carbon fibre dials dont do it for me,

i suspect that you would tire of it after a while, better go with a more 'traditional' look if its a keeper

That's very nice - a bit like the Tag Monza. Pin cushion, but a decent size as well. That's right up my street. They just seem very pricey.

I think the black face version is much nicer, when paired with a dark strap - the yellow one is too contrast-y. Though says it comes with a rubber one too which might be nice.

Though if I was going for a new Steinhart tomorrow I'd pick this one, the Marine Officer grey:
