Car started making a single clicking sound from front suspension when turning left, any ideas what it might be, its going in for the NCT in the next few weeks and would like to get it sorted before hand.

I had the wheel off and inspected the CV boot and it seems to be fine, no nics in the rubber, would it be the CV joint even though theres nothing wrong with the boot.?

I once had this clicking noise, everyone was confident it was CV joint. It wasn't:mad: Gearbox (differential actually) went on mine.
Hope in your case it is only cv joint.

    also could be wheel bearing,

best get a mechanic to check it out would not take to long as its confined to one area,

    droplinks/trackrod/balljoint are easy to replace

    bearing/driveshaft a bit more

I rotated the wheel when I had it off the ground and it moved fairly freely but might check again.

    ok

when you had it off the ground did you hold the wheel in both hands an instead of rotating it kinda slightly pull to either side towards you, this well check to see if balljoint/wheel bearing is faulty etc

You say there is a single clicking sound when turning left. Does that mean it only clicks once when turning? If so I would check for a broken spring.

Yeah was in a SEAT dealer and they seem to think its a broken spring also, that it could be popping off or something, any ideas what they cost to replace and could it be a DIY job..really could do without this being expensive..

Broken spring is actually easy replace...

Disconnect strut top and bottom and drop the whole thing out.(prob 2 pinch bolts on the bottom and 3 bolts on top sticking out under the bonnet)

What id do then is go equipped with your new spring and still assembled strut, bring it to a friendly indy and they will swap over the springs for you in a couple of minutes (they will have a tool to compress the spring)
    Reassemble....

Thanks Marty that sounds like handy inexpensive job, will have a think about doing that as theres a few decent lads around who I don't mind getting them to do a couple of bits not sure if I would do it unassisted myself though, might break something else in the process.!!

Make sure spring is broken first...!

You could buy a spring compressor in halfords for about €40, and have that warm glow that comes from doing a job yourself
